Not flesh of my flesh
Nor bone of my bone,
But still miraculously
My own.
Never forget
For a single minute:
You didn't grow under my heart
But in it.

My dear adopted mum (shes's now deceased, I am 65), gave me this poem when I wa syoung, I have never forgotten it, I now have a good relationship with my birth mother who I found three years ago, I am off to visit her shortly and take her to lunch. She is 86. I'm so blessed. #1

I was brought up with this poem on my wall and still have it in a frame, and in my heart. It says so much about being adopted. Two sets of parents loved one child enough to give him an amazing and secure home. #2

I grew up with this on my wall too! I still know the poem by heart. December 22 is my 'special day' and I am so lucky to have it to celebrate! #3
