Our “Almost” Daughter

We are foster parents who fell in love with a special child. We had prayed to adopt her.
She has been gone for one year. We will miss her forever.

When you came to us as an infant,
We thought you would never leave.
And then they came and took you,
This we could not believe.

We opened our hearts and souls to you,
It seemed you were one of our own,
But suddenly, it all changed.
They took you to a "new" home.

Now the house seems empty,
Our hearts are empty too.
Things will never be the same.
Not without you......

I can only hope that one-day,
The pain won't be so bad.
And you can feel love and happiness,
Like you did with me and dad.
