Empty Reflections
As I look into the mirrorthere's someone staring back.
I'm not quite sure who she is,
There's something that she lacks.
Her family tree is not so tall,
And her eyes are not so deep.
Within her soul- there lives a truth,
Which only she can seek.
Her background's built from just her life,
her family history's not that old.
It's built by little tidbits,
things she's learned - or so been told.
A scrap of truth, a cup of lies,
And the strangers know it all!
Searching for the roots so dear,
finding just a wall!
For the woman staring back it seems,
an empty reflection in the glass.
She hopes someday, if fate allows,
to find her hidden past.
